Raamses has been at Compassion since 2008. He holds a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the University of Maryland, and undergraduate and master’s degrees from Virginia Tech and University of Maryland, respectively. He has held applied-research positions since 1996 with organizations such as Focus on the Family, the Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation, and the Center for Applied Behavior Systems, and has academic-research and teaching experience with the University of Maryland, Colorado Christian University, Hollins University, and Virginia Tech.
Raamses leads our strategic market research program in support of the product line and Compassion brand in the USA. He oversees Compassion’s in-house and outsourced primary research, builds research strategy, supervises research staff, works on all stages of multiple research projects from design to reporting, disseminates research findings to Compassion USA, and collaborates closely with the USA leadership team and marketing stakeholders to apply insights that inform strategic business decisions.
Raamses works remotely from Indianapolis and has three daughters; Lynelle (4 yrs), Aria (14 yrs), and Addison (19 yrs). In his non-work time, Raamses enjoys fast cars, movies, exercise, warm weather, travel, sports (Virginia Tech, especially), and playing with Lynelle (usually with dolls/princesses).
What Raamses enjoys most about research is designing methodologies that can find answers to difficult questions; “going back to his roots” with occasional, complicated statistical analyses; and communicating complex insights in understandable, compelling, and actionable ways.

My claim to fame is that one of my great grandfathers signed the Declaration of Independence. His name was Francis Hopkinson. My middle name is Hopkinson after him.
